As the primary communication tool for the Village, the Village web page will be receiving its 3rd comprehensive update since December 2006. I created a Web Page Liaison Team in December 2008 to review our web page on a quarterly basis and to suggest improvements.

New features/improvements will include the following: a prominent link on the main page for the $995 million dollar US Highway 41 reconstruction project (which begins in earnest in 2010 and should be complete by 2016); easier quick links to enroll in our e-Notify email system and to pay your utility bill online; a new drop-down menu entitled “I Want To”, which will include direct links to areas most requested by our residents; an updated calendar feature that will help residents follow the Village meeting schedule closer and highlighted communication tools, including this blog and a new Twitter account. The Twitter account will allow for residents and businesses to receive “tweets”. A tweet is similar to our current e-Notify email alert system, but tweets are smaller messages (140 characters or less) and are meant to convey information quickly. For example, you could receive a tweet if a meeting is canceled due to weather. A tweet can be sent to a mobile phone and/or email account.

I encourage you to review our updated web page and to sign up for the communication tools available – our e-Notify system and the Village of Howard Twitter account. If you have a suggestion on how we may improve our web page, please let me know.
